Phoenix police detectives are investigating a shooting that took place at a local group home which left a young adult male in critical condition. A juvenile male suspect was later arrest for aggravated assault and related weapons charges.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, during the early morning of September 1, 2022 at about 1:48 a.m., officers responded to a call of an individual shot. When officers arrived to the area of 19th Avenue and Mountain View Road they provided medical aid to a juvenile victim only identified as a resident of the group home who had been shot.
Phoenix Fire department arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he is being treated for life threatening injuries.
Officers contacted several witnesses in the area and were able to locate a possible suspect nearby. The 17-year-old juvenile male was later arrested and booked into Maricopa County Juvenile court. The suspect in this case is also a resident of the group home where the shooting took place.
