Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating the death of a female jaywalker.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, at approximately 8:15 p.m., on October 8, 2024, officers were called to a collision between a car and an adult female pedestrian. Initial calls described a woman running in the roadway and called in as a possible suicide attempt. When officers got to the collision site, they found an adult female who appeared to be hit and was deceased on scene.
Detectives believe that the female was crossing midblock when she was struck by an unknown passenger car, which was northbound on North 43rd Avenue. The vehicle and driver fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Two other vehicles also struck the victim after the initial driver, both stayed on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
