Phoenix police detectives are investigating an early morning collision that left another jaywalker dead.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on June 2, 2023, at approximately 4:30 a.m. officers responded to the area of 52nd Avenue and Baseline Road regarding a collision involving a pedestrian. When officers arrived, they located 55-year-old Randy Long with serious injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, but he did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The vehicle involved in the collision remained on scene.
Detectives responded to take over the investigation. Preliminary information suggests that Mr. Long was crossing Baseline Road, mid-block, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound.
