MANILA, Philippines—After nine years in the independent wrestling scene, Philippine Wrestling Revolution (PWR) is ceasing operations permanently.

PWR president Red Ollero confirmed the news via statement posted on Monday.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce what many of you already speculated. Our wrestling promotion has ceased its operations permanently,” the statement read.

“Although it is not the ending we wanted, I’d like to think this grassroots-effort gave more than it should,” he added.

Ollero also wrestled part-time for PWR as Rederick Mahaba in a tag team with former PWR champion Ralph Imabayashi.

PWR produced talents like Crystal, Jake De Leon and Chris Panzer who competed in more indie wrestling promotions in Asia.

The company used to hold weekly or monthly events in 2019 with their most notable event being PWR: Homecoming in 2019, where it featured former WWE superstar TJ Perkins and New Japan Pro Wrestling veteran, Jeff Cobb.

PWR also booked Robbie Eagles in February 2020 (Love at First Fight) in a match against Panzer for the main heavyweight title.

The wrestling promotion, however, urged local fans to continue supporting the art by watching other companies like the Manila Wrestling Federation (MWF) and Filipino Pro-Wrestling (FPW).

Both promotions will hold events on October 16 with MWF having a live-taping of its show while FPW will have a soft launch of promotion.

Whether or not talents from PWR will compete on any of the said brands is still up in the air.
