UPDATE 9:40 a.m.: IMPD have ruled this case a homicide. The victim is believed to be an adult male but neither he nor the suspect have been named. They are asking for community assistance and ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).

ORIGINAL STORY:
INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating after a person was shot and killed on the northeast side of Indianapolis Sunday morning.
IMPD officers were called to the 3600 block of E 39th on the report of a person shot. Upon arriving to the scene, they identified a victim with at least one gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased, officers said.
A suspect has not been named at the time of publication. This remains an ongoing investigation.
