INDIANAPOLIS — A person was shot and killed near a liquor store on the east side of Indianapolis Sunday night.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were flagged down near 5442 E 21st St. just before 7 p.m. When police arrived at the scene, they located an adult male with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds in a vehicle.
IMPD has indicated that officers rendered aid to the victim until medics arrived at the scene. The man was subsequently pronounced dead.
Google Maps lists 5442 E 21st St. as the address for Victory Liquors.
After an investigation, police determined some sort of vehicle crash occurred before officers arrived at the scene.
IMPD has identified a person of interest in the case. Police have not released the names of the victim and person of interest.
IMPD Public Information Officer William Young reported that police have not determined if there is a connection between the shooting at the liquor store on 21st Street and the shooting at a Texas Roadhouse on Shadeland Avenue.
The Texas Roadhouse and liquor store shootings occurred within two miles of each other. Officers were dispatched to the scene of the Texas Roadhouse shooting just after 5:30 p.m.
“Our east district officers, they’ve been very busy this evening, as you can imagine,” Young said. “We haven’t gotten that far in these investigations, so hopefully as the night goes on we’ll be able to get further (details).”
Police encourage those with information on the liquor store shooting to contact the IMPD Homicide Office at (317) 327-3475 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-8477.
