SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Kelsie Yeoman used the parking garage at the airport for the first time Tuesday morning as she dropped off a family member for a flight.

“It was really easy to get to, and we got a really close spot, and it was nice not to have to be outside in the wind as long,” Yeoman said.

The four-level parking garage opened on October 1st.

But the parking garage isn’t the only new addition to the Sioux Falls Regional Airport.

Now travelers can use the skywalk too.

It opened Tuesday.

“People are excited it’s open,” Airport Executive Director Dan Letellier said.

The skywalk connects people from the parking garage to the terminal as cars move below.

“It’s a lot safer. We have a lot of traffic that’s coming,” Letellier said.

The skywalk will also give travelers a break from the cold and the wind and snow during winter travel.

“The convenience of not having to walk across the snow and the slush to get from the terminal building to the parking garage. If you’re pulling three or four bags it’s a lot easier to get to the parking garage than trying to go across the street,” Letellier said.

Yeoman hasn’t use the skywalk yet, but she think it’s a nice addition to the airport.

“I could see that that will be really beneficial,” Yeoman said.
