PERU, Ind. — An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in Peru Friday night, Indiana State Police announced on Sunday.
According to ISP, troopers were called around 9 p.m. to the area of U.S. 24 and County Road 550 E. Preliminary investigation found that a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander was traveling westbound on U.S. 24, approaching County Road 550.
That’s when police said the driver of the vehicle struck and killed 66-year-old Jeffrey Moss of Logansport, Ind. ISP said he was crossing from the south to north side of U.S. 24. Moss was then pronounced dead on the scene by the Miami County Coroner’s Office.
While toxicology results are pending, ISP said they do not suspect alcohol and drugs to play a role in the crash, and cited it being dark outside as a possible factor.
The investigation remains ongoing. FOX59/CBS4 will update this article once more information is made available.
