Aly Raisman knows how to stick the landing when it comes to her own wellbeing. 

The retired gymnast—who has long stressed the importance of mental health—has found that limiting her screen time has made a huge difference in her ability to relax.

“I’m really trying to be more present when I’m with people,” Aly exclusively told E! News’ Francesca Amiker, “and not be on my phone as much, which has really helped my mental health. Because I think when I’m present, I feel more relaxed and more calm.”

And while the 30-year-old does find herself getting anxious because she can’t keep up with all her unread texts, she noted there’s “a very difficult balance” between responding to friends and family virtually, but still being present in the moment.

Still, Aly loves having the ability to unplug, especially because she feels it gives her “permission to just relax” and “disconnect from everything.”
