Haskins, 24, tragically died on April 9 after being hit by a dump truck while he was walking on a South Florida highway. Prior to Saturday’s spring game, Ohio State paid homage to their former star quarterback by having a moment of silence at the stadium. Players and the coaching staff wore “DH” decals or pins during the game. Haskins’ initials were also painted onto the field. NBC4 Digital Sports Reporter Justin Holbrock posted to Twitter that Stroud wore Haskins jersey as a special tribute. “That’s a big brother of mine and I wanted to honor him the right way… He changed the culture here. Dwayne’s legacy will live on,” Stroud said. During Haskins’ final season in 2018, the Buckeyes went 13-1 and Haskins threw for 4,831 yards and 50 touchdowns leaving him with both Big Ten and school single-season records. He would then go on to win the 2018 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and 2019 Rose Bowl Offensive MVP. Ohio State University honored his legacy by calling him a “Leader. Legend. Forever a Buckeye” on social media.
