UNION CITY, Ind. — An Ohio man was arrested and charged with attempted murder after a reported shooting on Sunday evening in Union City, according to a post on the Union City Police Department’s social media page.

At around 11 p.m. on Sunday, officers from the Union City Police Department were dispatched to the 1100 block of W. State Road 28 in response to reported gunfire. When officers arrived, they were met by a woman who said she heard multiple gunshots and screaming near the Little Mississinawa River bridge.

When an officer approached the bridge and “announced their presence,” an individual, later identified as 45-year-old Michael Fisher, reportedly shot multiple rounds at the officer, some of which hit a nearby home. The officer did not return fire.

Fisher, a Union City, Ohio resident, was later located at the scene. The post read that Fisher reportedly had a 9mm handgun with an empty magazine. A vehicle was also located in the nearby river that contained multiple firearms, including a long rifle, a short-barreled rifle and ammunition.

According to court documents filed on Monday in Randolph County, Fisher has been charged with:

  • One count of attempted murder, a Level 1 felony
  • One count of intimidation, a Level 5 felony
  • One count of pointing a firearm at another, a Level 6 felony
  • One count of criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon, a Level 6 felony

The post read that the case remains under review by the Randolph County Prosecutor’s Office.
