The National Republican Senatorial Committee is out with a new ad criticizing U.S. Senate candidate Mandela Barnes as a “defund the police” Democrat.
The TV and digital ad is part of a six-figure buy.
The spot features a clip of the lieutenant guv next to graffiti that reads “Barnes” and “defund the police.”
“The minute you talk about reducing a police department’s budget, then it’s like all hell breaks loose. It’s about reallocating funds,” Barnes says.
“He’s talking about defunding the police,” a voice-over says. “Now murder is up in Milwaukee 40 percent — the fourth-highest increase in the country. Mandela Barnes: a dangerous Democrat.”
Barnes is running against incumbent U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Oshkosh.
