The National Republican Congressional Committee is running a new hybrid TV ad with U.S. Rep. Derrick Van Orden blasting Dem 3rd CD candidate Rebecca Cooke as a “political insider” supported by the Washington liberal elite.
Hybrid spots allow groups such as the NRCC to get the lower candidate rate for an ad. But those spots must promote the party overall as well as a candidate. The NRCC also started running a hybrid ad with the Van Orden campaign last week.
“The liberal elite in Washington are running one of their own here in Wisconsin: a political insider who worked to elect liberals in California, even supported a dark money group focused on defunding the police,” the narrator says in the latest spot.
The ad shows images of prominent Dems such as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-NY, and President Joe Biden, before revealing a darkened silhouette that transforms into Cooke.
“Her name? Rebecca Cooke, political operative bankrolled by the liberal elite,” the narrator says. “They hand-picked her to help win back the House, trusted to elect liberal heroes like Mandela Barnes. They trust her because Rebecca Cooke is one of them.”
Cooke, an Eau Claire nonprofit leader, previously worked as a political consultant for Dem candidates.
