SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) — We’ve been talking about how the entirety of KELOLAND has needed rain for quite a while now. Though West River locations largely missed out this time around, it was the east’s turn to get in on a good soaking rain.
The divide between the haves and the have-nots is sharp and well-defined along the James River as we look at the end result of Monday’s rain. To the east, upward of an inch to an inch and a half was observed…while little to nothing fell west of the river.
Not only did we almost set a one-day record for rain in Sioux Falls on Monday, but we also had just about as much rain on that one day than we did between August 28th and November 17th combined. The same goes for Huron as well as Yankton to the southeast. Even up north, similar comparisons can be made in locations like Watertown.
We’ll see what kind of dent this puts into the drought conditions East River with the next update on Thursday. For now, we’ll pivot our focus from rain to the chance to see some flakes in the midweek outlook.
