SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Deuel School District was placed under lockdown Monday morning for a threat involving a potential school shooter.

The Deuel County Sheriff’s Office was contacted for an “indirect” threat. After an investigation and search of the school grounds, nothing was found.

“We are relieved to report that nothing was found, and there is no ongoing threat to students or staff,” a social media post from the school district said.

The sheriff’s office said deputies and South Dakota Game Fish and Parks officers are remaining at the school for the rest of the day.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, the Deuel County school district has around 540 students.
