Gardner played in 33 games as a Bearcat, logging a career-best year in 2021, setting career highs in games played (13), solo (28) and total (40) tackles, tackles for a loss (5.0) and sacks (3.0).A native of Detroit, Michigan, Gardner recorded three interceptions in each of his three years in Clifton.Considered a consensus top-five pick entering the draft, Gardner is the third-ever Bearcat to be drafted in the first round (Greg Cook by Cincinnati in 1969, Bob Bell by Detroit in 1971), and is the highest Bearcat ever to be selected.
