The city and state are honoring fallen FDNY EMS Lt. Alison Russo by flying flags at half-mast at government buildings.

Mayor Adams gave the instructions for city buildings on Thursday, a spokesman said. The flags were expected to remain at half-mast until Russo’s internment.

Gov. Hochul directed state buildings to fly their flags at half-mast starting at sunrise Friday.

“We mourn the loss of Alison Russo-Elling, an [EMS] lieutenant who was killed while on duty,” she said in a statement. “Our hearts are with her family as we honor her life and remember her as a hero. I know all New Yorkers are grateful for her service over more than two decades with FDNY and as a World Trade Center first responder.”

Adams voiced the same sentiment about Russo, who was on her way to get something to eat at a deli when she was randomly attacked in Astoria, Queens, on Thursday.

“Our hearts go out to the family, her colleagues and the City of New York,” the mayor said at a press conference. “We lost one of our heroes.”
