WORTHING, S.D. (KELO) – From the creator of the Big Orange Food Truck now comes the Taco Vault.
“The Taco Vault is a fun little way of utilizing some of the tacos you would’ve seen on the Big Orange Truck,” Dean Marshall, co-owner of the Taco Vault, said. “We were always known to have a different kind of wacky taco on the menu and that’s kind of what we did, we created a whole menu of wacky tacos.”
Marshall co-owns the Taco Vault with Austin Metivier who was born and raised in Worthing.
“Super excited. For a lot of the times it’s just been, there’s only been on restaurant, one place to get food here so it’s been really hard for people,” Metivier said. “You know, it’s either you got to eat gas station food or, you know, just the same spot every time. So being able to offer variety and let everyone kind of enjoy different things.”
There’s more to the Taco Vault than just tacos. Downstairs there’s a whole community space for playing board games or coming to things like trivia nights.
“Bring community together, you know, that’s what we’re trying to do,” Marshall said. “We need more spaces for community to be. Small towns need their watering holes and I truly believe that. We don’t want to be just like a watering hole, we want a community event center.”
They also want to support local artists by displaying their work in the restaurant.
“We have different artists every month and all the art is for sale,” Marshall said. “We take a ten percent cut and give it back to the local fine arts. We keep none of it, it all goes back to the local fine arts.”
“We just want to be known for having good service, great people and great food,” Metivier said. “We want a lot of people to just come and get an experience.”
The Taco Vault is located inside a former bank and the old money vault has been turned into their drink station, where they serve craft beers.
