The space of the former Tri-County Mall is taking on a new name ahead of a $1 billion redevelopment project.
The space that used to occupy the Tri-County Mall will now be called Artisan Village.
New owners, MarketSpace Capital and Park Harbor Capital announced the name and brand Monday.
The redeveloped space will include multifamily units, retail and restaurants, green spaces a dog-friendly restaurant and park and more.
Cincinnati-based marketing and consulting firm, BSB Group International, developed the name and brand, the new owners said in a press release.
“When BSB Group presented the name Artisan Village, and, most importantly, the story behind it, our team was unanimously inspired and immediately onboard,” Sohail Hassan, Managing Partner of Marketspace Capital said in a statement. “We are truly honored to take one of the most authentic aspects of Springdale’s history – its centuries-long commitment to artisans and creators – and intentionally weave it throughout this new development. This name is so fitting with our vision for the property as a travel-worthy destination, a place to call home, and a close-knit community of artisans and makers.”
The inspiration came after looking into the history of Springdale and its community.
The project will be completed over five phases and is expected to be completed in around 10 years.
Phase one of the development is set to start later in 2022.
The first phase will include 450 multifamily housing apartments, 40,000 square feet of retail space and restaurants and 110,000 square feet of recreational space, including a 38,000 square foot fitness center.
The space will also include walking and cycling trails in the first phase.
“Back in the early days, Springdale was known as a welcoming, eclectic, and handmade Artisan Village that anyone, from anywhere, could visit, stay and call home,” Shaikh said. “And now today, more than 200 years later, we want to make it that place again.”
