MANILA, Philippines — Myla Pablo showed what she can offer to F2 Logistics after making a rousing debut for her new team in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.
The two-time PVL MVP delivered 21 points, nine digs, and eight receptions as F2 Logistics avoided a meltdown and survived a gritty PLDT side, 25-22, 25-21, 14-25, 20-25, 16-14, on Tuesday at Philsports Arena.
Pablo is thrilled to be part of a new culture and system with the Cargo Movers and she knows to match the energy and intensity of her teammates, who are raring to bounce back season after missing the semifinals last year.
“I’m the lone addition to the starting six and F2 has been together for a long time. So I have to be on the same page. My teammates and coaches are also relying on me when it comes to the crucial part of the game,” said Pablo in Filipino.
The 5-foot-10 hitter out of National University is also embracing a leadership role despite being a newcomer.
“The team is not just relying on the leadership of Ate Aby [Marano]. Everyone has to lead the team also to get the win every game,” Pablo added.
Pablo, who is on her fourth PVL club, scored most of her points in the first two sets and had 80 attack attempts.
F2 Logistics’ new coach Regine Diego was pleased with Pablo’s debut as a Cargo Mover, proving she can carry the team’s scorer prowess and lead by example, too.
“Myla can lead the team. She really led the team. There were just moments when our opponents were able to read her offense. It’s part of the game, I respect the opponent. They were quick to adjust. But Myla did really well in this game,” Diego said.
“She proved that she is a reliable scorer and she really can help. She had a huge contribution to the team today,” she added.
Diego hopes Pablo and the Cargo Movers can do more in their next games by making the adjustments they need as they continue their campaign against the Akari Chargers on Saturday at the same venue in Pasig City.
