MANILA, Philippines—Robert Bolick wasn’t in his usual offensive form in NLEX’s match with Phoenix in Group B of the PBA Governors’ Cup on Sunday.

That, however, didn’t hinder the Road Warriors from emerging victorious over the Fuel Masters, 100-95, at Araneta Coliseum behind the efforts of import Myke Henry.

With Bolick scoring just 11 points on a 5-for-12 shooting night, NLEX turned to Henry which worked wonders on the Road Warriors’ end as they improved to a 2-0 card.

“That’s why they brought me in, to carry the offense when they need it and they needed it today but I have to give credit to the coaching staff and players for trusting me to make the right plays,” said Henry.

“When they take Robert out of the game then we’re playing with a disadvantage. I take advantage of it out there [against Phoenix] with mismatches, making the right plays and seeing what the defense is giving me. I’ll make the right plays and punish them every time.”

Henry dominated with 37 points on top of nine rebounds, five assists and four steals to power the NLEX through a cold-shooting night from their top scorer.

Henry also outplayed his import counterpart over at the Phoenix side as Jayveous McKinnis dropped a silent double-double to the tune of 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Road Warriors head coach Jong Uichico though, isn’t worried about Bolick’s subpar shooting night as he saw the former Northport swingman affect the game in other ways than the offensive side.

“Robert has gotten a more defensive mentality. He kind of has that now, knowing it’s a part of his game that he needs to improve on it just a little bit,” said the veteran tactician.
