We’re continuing our series of product reviews on Wit & Delight, where I offer my in-depth thoughts on tried and true products I’ve been using for months (or years) that have changed my daily routine for the better. These reviews are intended to provide detailed information on products that may be of interest to you, so if and when you’re in the market for a given item, you have all the info you need to decide whether to make a purchase.
Today I’m sharing my personal review of the DRx SpectraLite™ FaceWare Pro, an LED face mask from Dr. Dennis Gross.
The DRx SpectraLite™ FaceWare Pro is an FDA-cleared face mask from Dr. Dennis Gross that uses red and blue LED light therapy. The blue light treats acne and evens skin tone and texture, while the red light smooths lines, supports natural collagen production to firm skin, treats signs of sun damage, and treats inflammation.
What is your skin like?
I have sensitive, dry skin that is starting to show fine lines. I also have dark spots on my nose and cheeks and I often deal with my skin looking a bit dull and red. Occasionally, I have mild hormonal acne. Because I have sensitive skin, I have to be careful with acids and harsh serums. Before I bought this mask, I had recently been diagnosed with early-stage rosacea. I noticed I was getting really red on my nose and cheeks when drinking alcohol, having spicy food, or being in the sun for a prolonged period.
Why did you want to try this LED face mask?
I bought this mask in May 2024. I had previously tried the Solawave Wand and found my skin benefited from red light therapy. With the Solawave Wand, I noticed some improvements in my skin pigment and texture. I noticed my dark spots looked minimized and my skin looked more radiant and firm.
I wanted to invest a little more in an LED mask I could simply leave on without needing to manually move it to each part of my face. The Dr. Dennis Gross LED mask is designed to treat the issues I noted above, like fine lines, dark spots, redness, and acne.
Before I bought the Dr. Dennis Gross LED mask, I had purchased this $150 LED mask and this $70 LED mask through Amazon. I returned them both because they didn’t charge or stay on my face well. I was also worried about using a device sold by a third-party vendor, especially when using bright light so close to my eyes. Ultimately, I decided I wanted to try a product from a more reputable, well-researched brand. The Dr. Dennis Gross mask is FDA-cleared, which means it is a professional-grade LED therapy.
What is your routine when using the Dr. Dennis Gross LED mask?
I try to use the mask daily. Realistically, I use it about three days a week, because you know, life. To use, I wash my face and pat it dry, place the device on my face, turn it on, and use it for the programmed duration of three minutes.
There are three modes: red anti-aging mode, blue anti-acne mode, and combined red and blue light mode. I usually do the red light mode. Afterward, I apply my normal skin products.
This mask can be used morning or night. For best results, the brand recommends daily use—consistency is key! For more information, reference the full list of instructions from Dr. Dennis Gross.
How effective is this LED face mask?
With regular use, I’ve noticed the fine lines on my face are minimized and the redness has improved to the point it is not noticeable anymore. I’ve also noticed an improvement with hormonal acne. My cheeks have fewer dark spots but my nose continues to be a problem area that I am going to consult my dermatologist about at my next appointment. Overall, this product has been effective for me so far and I’m eager to continue using it long-term.
Have you noticed any issues with the device?
No. I’ve used it regularly for four months and I have no complaints. It keeps a charge for a long time and is durable. I love the comfortable silicone lining too!
Who do you think should consider buying the Dr. Dennis Gross LED Mask?
At $455, this LED mask is an investment—one I’ve found to be worth the cost for me. I particularly appreciate its ease of use and the convenience of using it at home.
If you’re looking to invest in a device to treat acne, fine lines and wrinkles, discoloration, redness and inflammation, and skin density, this FDA-cleared LED device could be a good product to try. I recommend consulting your dermatologist for personalized insights on whether LED light therapy is right for you.
