MUNCIE, Ind. — A Muncie man was arrested on multiple drug dealing charges after the Muncie Police Department reportedly conducted drug deals with confidential sources.
According to court documents filed on Tuesday, 25-year-old Nathan Johnson was booked on the following charges:
- One count of dealing in a narcotic drug more than 10 grams, a Level 2 felony
- One count of dealing in meth more than 10 grams, a Level 2 felony
- Two counts of dealing in a narcotic drug more than one gram, a Level 4 felony
- One count of maintaining a common nuisance, a Level 6 felony.
The documents said that the first reported exchange between Johnson and the confidential source occurred in the south side of Muncie on June 14. After having a conversation, the two conducted a drug deal and the source then gave investigators a “clear bag that contained a purple powdery substance” that was reportedly purchased during the transaction.
On Monday, the department conducted an additional transaction between Johnson and a confidential source. During this exchange, Johnson told the source to come to his apartment, located on S. Liberty St. in Muncie. Like the previous exchange, the source reportedly received a clear bag that contained “a purple rock like substance” which they then gave to police.
That afternoon, officials said that Johnson was taken into custody while at a Walgreens location on Madison. The documents said that in Johnson’s vehicle, the following items were located:
- Digital scales
- Sandwich bags
- U.S. currency
- Ziploc bags with 5.7 grams of fentanyl, more than 25 grams of heroin and 6.2 grams of methamphetamine.
After obtaining a search warrant, police then conducted a search of Johnson’s apartment where they reportedly found more fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine, which weighed more than 250 grams in total.
