MUNCIE, Ind. — An investigation has been launched after an AutoZone in Muncie was completely destroyed in a fire early Thursday morning.

Firefighters with the Muncie Fire Department were dispatched around 5:50 a.m. to an AutoZone located at 2210 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard after receiving reports of a possible business fire.

Muncie Fire Chief Dan Burford confirmed to FOX59/CBS4 that the business is a total loss after the fire, resulting in approximately $3 million in damage to inventory and structure.

Fire crews remained on the scene for around five hours as they battled multiple hotspots that brought significant damage to the business. No injuries or deaths have been reported, according to Burford.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
