SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Emergency personnel responded to an incident outside the Avantara nursing home in Milbank on Wednesday.
Grant County Emergency Management said on Facebook at about 1:30 p.m. that a suspect is in custody and there is no threat to the public. No additional information was available.
Tony Mangan of the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office said the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the incident.

The nursing home is at 1103 S 2nd St. in the midst of a residential area. It is also near a park with a ballfield complex. Milbank is about 124 miles north of Sioux Falls in northeastern South Dakota.
The incident apparently happened at about noon on Wednesday.
Wellshire Park Place is an Avantara assisted living facility and next to the nursing home. A representative of Wellshire Park Place said at about 1 p.m. that no residents were evacuated and everyone was safe.
