Following recent shootings in downtown Las Vegas, the city’s mayor took to social media today to announce possible added security measures.

Mayor Carolyn Goodman said via Twitter that she met this morning with Metro Police, Fremont Street Experience security personnel and downtown business owners to discuss an “increased law enforcement presence” in the downtown tourist district.

A man was shot early Monday after a fight broke out near the Fremont Street Experience, a pedestrian mall with access to multiple casinos in downtown Las Vegas, police said.

On June 19, a person was fatally shot and another wounded during an early morning episode of violence at the attraction, police said. A teen was later arrested in connection with the shooting, police said.

In a pair of tweets today, Goodman said Las Vegas officials won’t tolerate violent acts in the tourist district and “will prosecute violators to the fullest.”
