SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — There’s another public corruption case in South Dakota and Attorney General Marty Jackley is having a news conference Tuesday afternoon to talk about it.

Jackley will hold a news conference at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Sioux Falls to announce the filing of criminal charges involving a former state government employee. His office did not provide any details of the department or employee involved.

KELOLAND News will cover this news conference live on KELOLAND.com and will have broadcast and digital reports on the story.

In November, the chair of the Legislature’s Government Operations and Audit Committee said groups that were hired to get food to needy people in western South Dakota for the state Department of Human Services are under criminal investigation, KELOLAND’s Bob Mercer reported.

The state already has two public corruption cases in 2025.

One involves theft totaling more than $1.7 million by a former employee of the child-protection office at the state Department of Social Services. The other involves criminal misrepresentation of motor vehicle titles for financial gain by several now-former employees in the state Department of Revenue.

Lawmakers have shared concerns about the corruption cases. GOAC met privately with Jackley in October to discuss the topic.
