SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Meteorologist Scot Mundt is following the increase in moisture and our temperatures on Friday.
Spring is known for its ups and downs. Southeast KELOLAND can expect to go up on Friday, but then it will quickly go down on Saturday.
As temperatures warm to record levels in areas of southeast KELOLAND on Friday, so will dew point temperatures. We follow dew point temperatures as a measurement of the amount of moisture in the atmosphere.
This particular model shows the warming dew point temperatures as we go through the day on Friday. Notice how the numbers climb to at least the low 50s as we get into Friday afternoon, this happens as air temperatures warm to the 70s and 80s. With the higher dew point temperatures, you may feel the added humidity in the air.
And that should translate to better chances for rain in southeast KELOLAND late Friday and Friday night. In fact, thunderstorms are in the forecast during that time.
Anytime we get dew points in the 60s and above, that’s when a lot of people start to feel uncomfortable and turn on their air conditioners. We’ll see how warm the dew points get in southeast KELOLAND leading into the weekend, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some of us go from using their air conditioner on Friday to using their heat on Saturday.
