SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A Nobles County, Minnesota, sheriff’s deputy is in critical condition following a crash while on duty, a news release from the sheriff’s office said.
At around 4:30 Sunday afternoon, an SUV was traveling westbound on I-90 when it crashed into Deputy Arnold Waldner’s police cruiser near mile marker 34, according to the news release. Waldner sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Sanford in Worthington, Minnesota, where he was in critical condition as of Monday, according to the news release.
Waldner has been a deputy with the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office for two years. A fund has been set up at 1st State Bank in Worthington.
