INDIANAPOLIS — A minor was arrested after reportedly committing an armed carjacking, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department North District.
The male suspect was arrested for the following:
- Armed Carjacking, a Level 3 Felony
- Auto Theft, a Level 6 Felony
- Resisting Law Enforcement, a Misdemeanor
- Refusal to Identify, a Misdemeanor
Officers with IMPD were dispatched on Saturday at around 12:30 a.m. to the 3000 block of N. Illinois St. on a report of an armed carjacking. Upon arrival, crews located a victim who stated three masked individuals approached him, pointed a firearm, and said “give me the keys.” The suspects then entered the victim’s Dodge Journey and fled the area.
At approximately 12:45 a.m., authorities found the Dodge going northbound near the intersection of 30th and Sherman. Law enforcement attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver allegedly refused to stop, and the vehicle pursuit ensued.
The driver crashed a short time later in the 3800 block of Harvest Ave., and the three occupants ran. One suspect was apprehended with the assistance of a K9 and police drones.
The other two suspects were not located.
