Mayor Cavalier Johnson, will be the featured speaker at a Newsmaker Luncheon hosted by the Milwaukee Press Club on Thursday, June 2.
Johnson, the former Common Council president who became Milwaukee’s acting mayor when Tom Barrett stepped down last December to become U.S. ambassador to Luxembourg, was elected April 5. He is the city’s first elected Black mayor and will serve the remaining two years of Barrett’s term.
Johnson will take questions from a panel of journalists and from the audience at the luncheon, to be moderated by Milwaukee Press Club President Corrinne Hess, reporter for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The event is set for 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Newsroom Pub, 137 E. Wells St.

The press club’s Newsmaker Luncheons are held to highlight the people and issues that affect individuals and communities in Milwaukee and Wisconsin. The cost is $20 for MPC members, $25 for non-members and $15 for students. Lunch is included. Advanced registration and payment are required and may be done by booking below. Checks may be mailed to the MPC at PO Box 176, North Prairie, WI 53153-0176. Cancellations will be accepted up to 48 hours in advance.
