Milwaukee Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) supports Wednesday’s official continuation of tenant’s Right to Counsel and Eviction Free MKE programming.
County Executive David Crowley’s initial decision to end Right to Counsel by excluding it from the 2025 county budget would have been a tremendous loss for tenants seeking aid at a time when homelessness and financial struggle continue to rise.
“We would like to thank all of our comrades who signed our letters and came to public budget hearings,” stated Milwaukee DSA Right to Counsel Campaign Co-Chairs, Mike Clouthier, Blue Pelikan and Velly Marsh Thursday. “By showing your support for this program, your passion for solidarity and your commitment to social equity, we were able to secure a policy that builds a more equitable Milwaukee County. We will continue to pressure our elected officials to invest in public infrastructure and social services that serve all of our community.”
Milwaukee DSA is committed to continuing support for tenants’ Right to Counsel and will host a campaign summary and listening session on November 23 at 4 p.m. at Zao Church, 2319 E Kenwood Blvd, Milwaukee, WI 53211.
