Lisa Byington, TV play-by-play announcer for the Milwaukee Bucks, will be the featured guest at a Newsmaker Luncheon set for noon on Thursday, May 5, hosted by the Milwaukee Press Club and WisPolitics.com.
Byington, the first woman hired to do full-time TV play-by-play for a major men’s pro sports team, will take questions from a panel of journalists and from the audience at the luncheon, to be moderated by Milwaukee Press Club President Corrinne Hess, reporter for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The event is set for 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Newsroom Pub, 137 E. Wells St.
In 2021, Byington also was the first female play-by-play voice to cover the NCAA men’s basketball tournament for CBS and Turner Sports. In 2017, she was the first female play-by-play voice for a college football game on the Big Ten Network and 2018 she was the first woman to call a Major League Soccer match.

The press club’s Newsmaker Luncheons are held to inform the public about the people and issues that affect individuals and communities in Milwaukee and Wisconsin. The cost to attend is $20 for MPC members, $25 for non-members and $15 for students. Lunch is included. Seating is limited.
