SIOUX FALLS SD (KELO) — After a fresh light coating of snow during the evening, morning temperatures are downright cold this morning. Temperatures have dropped between -5 and -15 across much of eastern KELOLAND. Wind chills are even colder in the minus 20s, so stay warm the best you can and limit your exposure to the cold.
You can see the track of the snow on the radar loop below. Most of the snow totals are in the “nuisance” range across KELOLAND, with more snow across the northern Black Hills. In fact, a winter weather advisory is still in effect for the Lead and Deadwood areas until noon.
On Futurecast, you can see the clear skies in the east and the clouds across the west with the chances of light snow. Those clouds will start to roll east tonight and tomorrow as warmer air slides into KELOLAND. Expect widespread 30s and 40s tomorrow with a stronger west or southwest wind. Those milder temperatures should hold through Friday.
Unfortunately, the bottom will drop out this weekend with the coldest air of the season possible into early next week. There could be some light snow on Saturday with the polar front as well. Temperatures could stay in the single digits on Sunday and Monday. One important factor to watch in the impact of any new snow that does or does not fall across KELOLAND. Wind chills are looking quite cold, likely dropping into the minus 20s or lower.
