BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Miami Heat drafted former Indiana University center Kel’el Ware with the no. 15 pick in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft Wednesday night.

Ware averaged 15.9 points and 9.9 rebounds per game last season, cementing his status as one of the best centers in the Big Ten. In addition to his abilities in the paint, Ware managed to convert 42.5% of his three-point shots.

Ware will join Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro as the Heat look to improve their 44-38 record last year and vie for the Eastern Conference next season. The Heat were knocked out in Round 1 of the NBA Playoffs with Boston winning the series 4-1.
