Rapid City, S.D. (KELO) — People turn to Menards for everything from tools and bathtubs to lights and paint.

Right now, the Rapid City location is also helping families in need put food on the table.

All 341 Menards stores in 15 states are collecting food for people in need.

“We teamed with Feeding South Dakota. We’ve done this for years, it’s a great opportunity to help them out. Our customers enjoy this program,” Menards General Manager Mark Kerr said.

This Rapid City drive is collecting food for Feeding South Dakota, so the agency can help feed families all year long.

“I think it’s wonderful that big corporations are doing that to help the people in need. Because there are a lot of them out there that need help,” Shopper Mary Webeck said.

Menards want to make helping out as easy as possible.

All you need to do is grab an extra item or two while shopping and donate right when you pay.

“I think it’s wonderful when you’re out shopping anyway that you can grab a few things and donate them. It makes it very handy,” Webeck said.

“What makes us successful is the community. The community has always supported this in a big way. We are bringing pallets and pallets of food to Feeding South Dakota and Rapid City has been a huge support for us,” Kerr said.

You can make donations through the end of March.

This year all Menards stores will be hosting several local drives for different agencies.
