BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – They went for the meat.
A burglary this week at a Bloomington restaurant resulted in some damage and the theft of “various types of uncooked meat,” according to the Bloomington Police Department.
Officers responded to Juannita’s Restaurant, 620 W. Kirkwood Ave., on Monday morning. Someone broke in while the restaurant was closed overnight Sunday into Monday.
The intruder opened a valve on the deep fryer, causing oil to spill all over the floor. But the biggest target was the restaurant’s meat supply.
Police said the thief or thieves stole “chicken, steak, chorizo, pork, beef and shrimp” from the establishment, a family-owned restaurant that serves up authentic Mexican cuisine.
The theft remains under investigation.
