MARION, Ind. — A Marion man is accused of beating a woman with a baseball bat and breaking her arm.
Jureall Miles, 32, is behind bars in Grant County Jail. He is charged with attempted murder, a Level 1 felony; burglary with serious injury, a Level 1 felony, and battery resulting in serious injury, a Level 5 felony.
According to the Marion Police Department, officers were called to a home in the 400 block of East Wiley Street in Marion on Friday morning. A resident in the home told police that Miles entered the house and attacked both the resident and a woman.
Both victims were reportedly asleep in a bed when Miles entered the residence and attacked the pair. Miles is accused of using a baseball to attack the woman. The attack was partially captured on video, according to police.
Neither Miles nor the female victim were at the residence when Marion police officers arrived on scene. Police eventually tracked down Miles and took him into custody.
The female victim ended up calling police and cooperating in the investigation. She went to the hospital where she was diagnosed with a broken arm. She also had several bruises and abrasions.
Police reportedly viewed video of the attack and said Miles could be seen beating the woman and screaming, “I’ll kill you b****!”
Miles allegedly admitted to striking the woman once, but not to the full details of the attack.
If convicted of a Level 1 felony, Miles could face up to 40 years in prison.
