SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Construction on the Mapleton Golf Club is well underway but with construction season winding down, Mapleton spoke on how this year’s construction season went and their plans for the future.
The Mapleton Golf Club is a new private golf club in Sioux Falls, South Dakota that is expected to open in 2025.
Danny Amundson, Managing Partner with the club said there were some slight hiccups but the early start to construction season really helped.
“We are really blessed that the construction year started extra early this year. We have been working on the golf course since February and a little bit of rain events as the entire community did in June which slowed things down a little bit but, we were fortunate to have such a nice summer in July and August,” Amundson said in an interview with KELOLAND News. “We are also expecting to have golfers on the course by late summer next year.”

Amundson said that they are currently working on grassing the course.
“We have got a 1/3 of the holes all ready grassed with the rest of them being completed between now and the end of October,” Amundson said. “We will have all the grass planted on the golf course yet this fall and maybe a little bit of finish-up work in the spring.”
Amundson said the club would offer an 18-hole championship golf course, a six-hole par 3 course, a driving range and practice facilities, a clubhouse that hosts a restaurant, bar, pro shop, and locker rooms. Saying they wished to make a golf-centric club instead of something like a traditional country club.
Amundson said the course isn’t the only thing they are working on.
“We are also going ahead with the building constructions so we are in various processes of construction stages on all of our facilities,” Amundson said. “It’s kind of fun to see vertical construction taking place out there. The clubhouse which is kind of the primary use building, should get that up in and enclosed before winter so different folks can work in the building throughout the winter and that will get finished up next spring and summer along with the golf course.”
Amundson said this was a passion project for him.
“We have seen some of the significant population growth constraints on the facilities here in town, so we spent a measurable amount of time looking at doing different business model ideas, trying to find a piece of real estate. We were fortunate enough to put the blocks together and come up with what we have got,” Amundson said.
