SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The man killed when a large tower light pole fell on his vehicle along I-229 has been identified.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety says a contractor working on a tower light pole near exit 9 when the pole began to lean and fell across the northbound lanes of I-229. The tower pole struck a passing vehicle driven by 60-year-old Frederick Lee VanHorn.
VanHorn, of Sioux Falls, sustained fatal injuries.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
