INDIANAPOLIS — A shooting on the north side of Indianapolis left a man dead Friday night.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 7700 block of Kenworthy Drive — which is located near West 79th Street and Harcourt Road — around 7:55 p.m. on a report of a person shot. When police arrived at the scene, they located an adult male with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
IMPD initially reported that the victim was in critical condition. IMPD later revealed around 9:30 p.m. that the victim had been pronounced dead at the scene.
IMPD Capt. Rob Rider added that the vehicle the victim was driving struck a nearby apartment building after the shooting. Nobody inside the apartment was injured.
Detectives are continuing to review video surveillance as they continue investigating Friday night’s deadly shooting.
As of this article’s publication, police do not have a person of interest in custody.
