INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis metro police are searching for two suspects after a man was shot and killed on the city’s northwest side Friday night.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched around 8:34 p.m. to the 4100 block of Shore Drive after receiving reports that a person had been shot in the area.

IMPD said officers arrived and found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

IMPD Capt. Don Weilhammer said preliminary information indicates the victim and a group of friends were having a picnic in the area before another group approached them. Some type of altercation occurred and shots rang out.

Detectives are not yet sure how many people were at the picnic before the deadly incident took place. It also remains unclear if the suspects knew the victim before shots were fired.

Detectives are currently working with translators on scene to learn more about the circumstances that led up to the shooting.

Weilhammer confirmed that police are searching for two suspects. At this time, police have not provided any suspect descriptions.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call 317-327-3475 or 317-262-TIPS to remain anonymous.
