SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO ) — A group assault Thursday left a man in critical condition and the assault is being investigated by authorities.
It happened at the intersection of 8th Street and Indiana Avenue, near the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House.
One person has been arrested for aggravated assault, but police are still trying to work out what exactly happened, according to SFPD spokesman Sam Clemens.
Clemens said surveillance footage contributed to the arrest. Alcohol may have been a factor involved, but Clemens said drugs were not involved.
Darrin Sazue, 27, was arrested. He is a transient, along with the victim. Officers have not been able to speak with the victim because he is unconscious. Clemens said they believe the group and the man knew each other.
“I don’t know how well they knew each other, but it was not a stranger type of crime,” Clemens said.
Police are still looking for the other man involved.
