Officers responding to a call of someone shot Thursday night outside in the Edgewater neighborhood discovered a man who was beaten and unresponsive, Chicago police said.
About 10:10 p.m., officers responded to the 5800 block of North Kenmore Ave. where paramedics were treating a male victim who was found lying on the ground. The victim has suffered trauma to the head from a blunt object, but did not appear to be shot, police said.
The victim was taken in critical condition to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston.
No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.
