GRANT COUNTY, Ind. — A man has been arrested after striking an Indiana State Police vehicle in Marion Monday night.
Indiana State Police said a trooper pulled over shortly after 9 p.m. to assist an abandoned vehicle near Pennsylvania Avenue and Lincoln Boulevard.
While the trooper was sitting in the patrol vehicle with the emergency lights activated, ISP said a 2000 Mercury Sable struck the trooper’s vehicle and the abandoned vehicle as it was passing by.
The vehicle was operated by Charles Marks, 75, of Gas City. ISP said the trooper managed to speak with Marks on the scene following the incident and collect information to determine that Marks was possibly under the influence of alcohol.
The trooper also determined that Marks reportedly had marijuana in his possession.
Marks received medical treatment for a “minor” injury while the trooper was uninjured, according to ISP.
Marks was arrested and transported to the Grant County Jail where he was preliminary charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a level 6 felony, and possession of marijuana, which is a Class C misdemeanor.
