LOGANSPORT, Ind. — A juvenile has been arrested following two separate incidents involving intimidation with a deadly weapon, the Logansport Police Department announced on Friday.
According to LPD, officers were assisted by the Logansport School Corporation to collect the weapon from the juvenile and hold it at the local police department. Initially, police believed the weapon to be a real firearm, though it was later determined to be an airsoft gun.
This situation stemmed from reports of a juvenile with a gun in two unrelated events, both off school property and after school hours, LPD reported.
Following the juvenile’s identification, they were taken into custody, placed on home detention and provided with a GPS ankle bracelet.
LPD added that they will not be identifying the juvenile because of their age.
“We take any threat involving a weapon extremely seriously,” Logansport Police Chief Travis Yike said. “This arrest is the result of quick communications and a strong partnership between our officers and the Logansport School Corporation. We remain committed to keeping our schools and community safe.”
Despite the juvenile’s arrest, the investigation remains ongoing. Those with information are encouraged to contact LPD at (574) 753-4101.
