INDIANAPOLIS — Records from Noah Kahan, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, MF DOOM, The Doors, The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Grateful Dead and more. These are just some of the albums heading to Record Store Day Black Friday on Nov. 29.
And with Black Friday right around the corner, independent record stores in Central Indiana are putting a “spin” on things as they host their own RSD Black Friday events.
Indy CD & Vinyl:
In an email to FOX59/CBS4, Indy CD & Vinyl confirmed their annual RSD Black Friday event will be held at their shop on Broad Ripple Avenue. They will sell the full list of limited-edition vinyl only available on Black Friday, in a partnership with Record Store Day US.
As customers wait in line, Indy CD & Vinyl said they will provide”…coffee and goodies from our friends at Gold Leaf Savory + Sweet“. The store will also offer holiday-themed retail items, including greeting cards and gifts.
Indy CD & Vinyl added that they will continue their sales through Small Business Saturday, taking place the next day. Here, the record store will have sales on new and used LPs, stating they “…have the largest and deepest selections in the city.”
Square Cat Vinyl:
Located in Fountain Square, Square Cat Vinyl is a record store, live music and performance venue, bar and coffee shop that will also take part in RSD Black Friday.
According to Square Cat’s website, the store will open at 8 a.m. on Nov. 29 with hundreds of exclusive records immediately available.
For the first 25 people in line, Square Cat said they will provide giveaway bags “…with loads of promo material and other goodies”, as well as free coffee. Mystery bags will also be available for sale, as the store will offer them in both “bargain” and “premium” packages.
Luna Music:
Just in time for their 30th year in business, Luna Music’s Black Friday event begins at 8 a.m. on the 29th, with online sales starting at 8 a.m. on Nov. 30.
Free donuts will also be provided to customers in line, Luna wrote to FOX59/CBS4 in an email.
According to their website, the Indianapolis-based record shop “…will be stacked and stuffed with juicy used LP selections,” as well as new merch and catalog picks, alongside the new RSD Black Friday albums. This includes a throwback sweatshirt in honor of their 30th anniversary.
Karma Records:
Via a phone call to FOX59/CBS4, Karma stated that most of its Indianapolis stores will open at 8 a.m. on Friday the 29th. All RSD Black Friday titles will be sold, and Karma said they will have “…hundreds and hundreds of new vinyl for 10-50% off.”
All pre-run CDs, vinyl and cassettes will be 20% off for both Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, taking place the next day. According to Karma, they will also hold a drawing for a $50 gift certificate on both Friday and Saturday.
Tracks Music:
Tracks Music, located in the heart of Bloomington just off of Indiana University’s campus, will open an hour earlier than its normal opening time (9 a.m., as opposed to 10 a.m.). In a phone call, the store told FOX59/CBS4 that it will offer all RSD Black Friday titles.
Landlocked Music:
Yet another Bloomington staple, Landlocked Music will be open during its normal hours (12-8 p.m.) and host all of the RSD Black Friday titles, the store confirmed via email.
