WIND CAVE NATIONAL PARK, S.D. (KELO) — A weekend lightning strike sparked a wildfire at Wind Cave National Park in the southern Black Hills.
The so-called limestone fire was spotted early Saturday afternoon, burning in grass and timber, on a ridge-top, two miles northeast of the park’s visitor center.
By late afternoon, the fire had burned about five acres. A helicopter, and air tanker, were brought in, to help fight the fire. No buildings were threatened.
