Lil Nas X revealed he’s spent years thinking “Old Town Road” kinda SUCKED because of all the haters who dissed the song online.
He posted a TikTok where he dances to the Billy Ray Cyrus version. The caption says, “Me suddenly realizing I spent five years thinking my own song was cringe, because ugly losers who will never make anything as great and game-changing as [“Old Town Road”] got into my head.”
Columbia released it as a single just over five years ago in March of 2019, and the Billy Ray version came out that April.
It hit #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, Hot Country, AND Hot R&B/Hip-Hop lists before they yanked it from Hot Country for not being “country enough.”
Whether you agree with that or not, it paved the way for people like Post Malone and Beyoncé to start going country.
