What are the step-by-step instructions for making sidewalk chalk paint?
Step 1: Prepare the Mixture.
Start by mixing equal parts of cornstarch and water in a mixing bowl. Stir the mixture with a whisk until it becomes smooth. The consistency should be free of lumps, resembling liquid paint.
Step 2: Divide the Mixture.
Once the mixture is smooth, pour it into a muffin tin. This will allow you to create multiple colors of chalk paint. Be careful during this step as it can get a little messy.
Step 3: Add the Color.
Add one drop of food coloring to each section of the muffin tin. You can use different colors for each section or mix colors to create your own unique shades. Stir the food coloring into the mixture until it’s evenly distributed.
Step 4: Start Painting.
Now that your chalk paint is ready, grab your paintbrushes and head outside. Use the paint to create designs on the sidewalk or driveway. The paint will go on smoothly and dry to a chalk-like finish.
Once the paint dries, it will have a texture similar to traditional chalk. Feel free to get creative with your designs—draw shapes, patterns, or even write messages!
